Advisory

Heat Advisory extended through Tuesday, June 11 at 9 p.m.

The National Weather Service has extended a heat advisory for our region through Tuesday, June 11 at 9 p.m.

Temperatures are once again expected to reach record- or near-record highs from 95 to 105. Please remember to practice heat safety by staying hydrated, staying cool and not overexerting yourself. Heat stroke and dehydration can be life threatening.

The Main Los Altos Library located at 13 S San Antonio Road and Woodland Branch Library located at 1975 Grant Road are available as local cooling centers. For a list of cooling centers located across Santa Clara County, visit https://www.sccgov.org/sites/opa/ma/Pages/List-of-Cooling-Centers-Around-Santa-Clara-County.aspx

Preparedness Actions to Consider:

  • Drink more water than usual
  • Limit outdoor strenuous activities during the hottest time of the day
  • Help elderly, kids and pets stay cool
  • Seek air-conditioned buildings
  • Wear light-colored clothes and a hat
Please also remember to never leave your kids or pets in hot cars. It only takes minutes for heat stroke to kick in and it can be fatal. If you see a child or pet in distress in a hot car, please call 911 immediately.

The excessive heat may cause power outages, as a friendly reminder we ask that you do not call 911 if your power goes out. Instead please contact PG&E directly. To report a power outage, or check the status of an outage, please contact PG&E at their Power Outage Information Center by calling 1-800-734-5002.
