Ontario Police Pursuit
Ontario police vehicle is rammed by suspects fleeing scene of burglary. No officers were injured in the collision. All suspects were taken into custody.
On June 12, 2019 at 1:19 pm, Ontario Police Officers responded to a call of a residential burglary in the 2700 block of South Homes Avenue.
As officers arrived in the area, they located a red convertible sedan fleeing the area. The suspect failed to stop for the police and led officers on a pursuit in which he endangered motorists by driving westbound on SR60 Freeway in the eastbound lanes. Officers did not pursue the suspect on the wrong side of the freeway. As the suspect vehicle neared the eastbound Vineyard Avenue off ramp, an Ontario Police car was parked on the shoulder of the freeway with the officer in the vehicle. The suspect intentionally rammed his vehicle into the police car, disabling the police vehicle. The suspect driver ran from the vehicle and was taken into custody a short time later. A female passenger in the suspect vehicle was also taken into custody. Photographs of the police vehicle and suspect vehicle after the collision are included.
The suspect driver and passenger were transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries that occurred during the collision. The driver was later identified as Gino John from Rancho Cucamonga and is being charged with attempted murder on a police officer and felony evading. The female passenger was identified as Jailene Caceres from Texas and will be charged with resisting arrest. Both suspects were later transported to West Valley Detention Center for booking.
