Ontario PD Joins the Safe Return Program
The Ontario Police Department is pleased to announce our participation in the Safe Return Program.
The Safe Return Program is a confidential registry developed by the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department designed to reunite lost people with their loved ones. The program is a database for people who have developmental or medical disabilities which increase their risk of becoming lost. It is designed for people who struggle with conditions such as Alzheimer’s, Autism, Dementia, Down Syndrome, and other developmental disorders.
The Safe Return Program is voluntary for citizens who wish to register themselves or a dependent loved one. The database is accessible to all police officers, whether they are in the office or in the field. It allows officers to link a found person to their loved ones by searching their name, description, or area.
Information regarding the program can be obtained at the Ontario Police Department by clicking on http://www.ontarioca.gov/police/CommunityPrograms, or the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department.
To register with the Safe Return Program, simply visit www.sbcounty.gov/sheriff/safereturn. Registration can also be completed by the stopping by Ontario Police Department or contacting an officer in the field.
