Peeping and Prowling Suspect Arrested
Campbell, CA – After an outpouring of support from our community, the Campbell Police Department has arrested an individual suspected of peeping in the bedroom window of a child.
On June 3, 2019, at approximately 1:20 AM, a male subject was seen peeking in the window of a home on Bismarck Drive in Campbell. The bedroom was occupied by a juvenile and the suspect fled after being confronted by the father. The suspect was last seen running on Phoenix Drive towards Hamilton Avenue.
Surveillance video showed the suspect approaching the bedroom window, looking inside, and repositioning himself to get a better view. After releasing the surveillance footage (https://youtu.be/yUARJGr6CeA) and requesting the public’s assistance in identifying the individual, we received multiple tips that led investigators to a possible suspect.
After following up on the information, Campbell Police Detectives positively identified Michael Edward Brothers, 58 years old of San Jose, as the person in the surveillance video. Mr. Brothers was booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail on a $100,000 warrant for peeping and prowling and possession of stolen property.
Mr. Brothers has prior convictions for peeping and prowling. Detectives are also looking into a possible lewd and lascivious act with a child under 10 years old involving Mr. Brothers that occurred last year (unrelated to the current peeping and prowling investigation). Based on Mr. Brothers’ criminal history and information received during this investigation, there are concerns that Mr. Brothers may have committed other similar crimes.
If you have information regarding any suspicious or criminal behavior by Mr. Brothers, please call our 24-hour dispatch center at (408) 866-2101 or the Investigations Unit at (408) 871-5190. Tips can also be submitted anonymously through our free mobile application (Campbell Police Department), downloadable from the App Store or Google Play.
