Ten K9s and their Handlers Set to Graduate from Harris County Sheriff’s Office Academy
What: Ten rookie K9s and their human partners are ready for duty now that they’ve completed the Harris County Sheriff’s Office’s 13-week training program. The K9s include three breeds – Beglian Malinois, Dutch Shepherd, and German Shepherd – that are ready to serve the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, Harris County Precinct 1 Constable’s Office, Harris County Precinct 3 Constable’s Office, Conroe Police Department, and the Coryell County Sheriff’s Office.
The Harris County Sheriff’s Office operates the regional K9 training facility.
Most of the newly-trained K9s -- including all four of those joining the Harris County Sheriff’s Office ranks – were purchased with funds generously donated by the non-profit K9s4COPs.
The K9s were trained on a new agility course, which was generously funded by the non-profit HCSO Foundation. A live demonstration of a K9 and its handler using the course will be performed, weather permitting.
