Fatal Traffic Collision on Monterey Rd
On June 25th, at approximately 10:26 pm, a solo vehicle collision involving a pedestrian occurred in the area of Monterey Road north of E. Middle Ave.
When Morgan Hill Police Officers arrived on scene, a vehicle was located in the northbound lanes of traffic with major front-end damage. Officers located a male subject in the northbound lanes of Monterey Rd north of the collision scene. The male subject had significant injuries and was unresponsive. Morgan Hill Police officers along with members of the Morgan Hill Fire Department began rescue efforts. EMS personnel transported the pedestrian to Regional Medical Center where he was later pronounced dead. The identity of the pedestrian is being withheld until notifications are made by the Coroner's Office.
The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation. Investigating officers observed no signs of driving while under the influence. Prior to the collision, the pedestrian was observed in the number #2 lane of Monterey Rd. The involved vehicle was believed to be traveling northbound at or below the posted speed before the collision. MHPD Traffic Unit responded to the collision and are investigating the collision.
