Lucerne Valley - Deputies responded to a residence after an intruder was found inside the home

LOCATION: 35000 block of Harvest Moon Street, Lucerne Valley
SUSPECT: Shea Eon Manigault, age 32 a resident of Lucerne Valley
VICTIM: Homeowner - Confidential
SUMMARY:
On Tuesday, June 25, 2019, at approximately 12:28 am, deputies from the Victor Valley Sheriff’s Station responded to a residence in the 35000 block of Harvest Moon Street in Lucerne Valley following the report of a shooting. Upon arrival, deputies located the suspect, later identified as Shea Manigult, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Deputies and emergency medical personnel attempted life-saving measures; however, the suspect was pronounced deceased at the location.
The victim advised deputies that she was asleep in her home when she was woken up by her dog barking. The victim entered a bedroom and found the suspect hiding. The victim became frightened and yelled at the suspect that he did not belong in her home, then returned to the living room and armed herself with a gun. The suspect approached the victim and fearing for her safety, she fired once at the suspect striking him.
Detectives from the Specialized Investigations Division, Homicide Detail, responded to the scene to conduct the investigation. Through investigation, detectives determined that the suspect had forced entry into the home prior to the victim locating him in the bedroom.
The victim has not been arrested. The investigation will be forwarded to the District Attorney for review.
The investigation is ongoing; additional information will be released as it becomes available.
