The Sonoma Police Department is investigating separate vehicle accidents which appear to be related. On Sunday, June 30th at approximately 9:50 p.m., Sonoma Police Department deputies along with Sonoma County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to a hit and run collision in the 19000 block of Highway 12, near Maxwell Village Shopping Center. Immediately after the initial call, deputies were dispatched to the second accident just south of the hit and run accident. This portion of Highway 12 near Maxwell Village shopping center has two lanes in each direction.

The victim in the hit and run collision was driving northbound on Highway 12 in the left lane when she noticed a car driving southbound on Highway 12 at a high rate of speed. The suspect’s vehicle crossed over into the victim’s lane; the victim was unable to get out of the way due to another vehicle driving beside her in the right lane. The suspect side swiped her on the driver’s side of her car as the vehicles passed each other. The suspect continued southbound on Highway 12 but was unable to maintain control of his vehicle and collided with a tree just south of Mary’s Pizza Corporate Office.

The suspect was transported to a nearby hospital and is still hospitalized with life-threatening injuries. Alcohol consumption appears to be a factor in both accidents. The victim received minor injuries as a result of this side-swipe accident and later sought her own medical attention.

The suspect was later identified as Guadalupe Dionicio Ramirez, DOB: 12/11/1998.
