VEHICLE: Brown 2003 Toyota Avalon
On July 4, 2019, at approximately 1:32 A.M., the Milpitas Police Department received a call of a vehicle that struck a power pole. The first officer arrived on scene in less than 90 seconds and found a vehicle with major damage down an embankment. The driver, Andrew Morales, remained at the scene and was uninjured. Officers determined Morales was driving under the influence of alcohol and arrested him. The collision caused a power outage to the area. Crews from PG&E are on scene and estimate the repairs will be completed by 11:00 A.M. Traffic is currently blocked in both directions of Calaveras Rd. from Piedmont Rd. to Downing Rd in order for PG&E to safely repair the damaged power pole.
Morales was booked into the Santa Clara County main jail for driving under the influence of alcohol.
