Please remember to celebrate safely. Only Safe & Sane fireworks are allowed in Newark. All other fireworks are illegal. Fireworks of ANY KIND are illegal in Newark Parks.
To report individuals using, possessing or selling illegal fireworks call:
- On 4th of July: 1(866)520-7233(safe)
- Outside of 7/4 call NPD:(510)578-4237
- For medical / fire emergencies: 911
When calling to report illegal firework usage include as much description of individuals as possible (I.e. age, height, clothing, hair, race, shoes, etc). Please also try and be specific as possible about the location of the occurrence (I.e. description of house or actual house address) or of vehicle involved.
Anyone found to be in possession of or using illegal fireworks will be subject to fine or arrest [NMC 15.17.050], NO FIREWORKS of ANY KIND are allowed in Newark Parks [NMC 12.16.115]. Additionally, if NPD has to respond multiple times to a location for illegal activity the property owner could be subject to fines [NMC 7.10.030].
City of Newark offices will be closed today, July 4th, in observance of Independence Day but will be open tomorrow, July 5th.
