Pedestrian Seriously Injured in Motor Vehicle Crash
Suffolk County Police Third Squad detectives are investigating a motor vehicle crash that seriously injured a pedestrian in Islip last night.
A 36-year-old man was crossing Union Boulevard at Nassau Avenue when he was struck by a 2014 Nissan SUV travelling eastbound on Union Boulevard at approximately 9:45 p.m.
The victim, whose identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin, was transported by Islip Exchange Ambulance to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore for treatment of serious injuries. The driver of the Nissan, Jose Escobar, 46, of Central Islip, was not injured. The Nissan was impounded for a safety check.
