“Music Under The Stars” & Mount Carmel Feast Road Closure / Safety Information.
This is a message from the Township of Lyndhurst Office of Emergency Management and the Lyndhurst Police Department regarding the Township’s annual “Music Under The Stars” in conjunction with the Our Lady of Mount Carmel Feast. In order to maintain safety, we are continuing important procedures instituted during previous year’s festivities.
There will be a hard road closure from approximately 8:00 AM on Monday, July 8, 2019 through late afternoon on Sunday, July 14, 2019. No traffic will be allowed northbound or southbound on Delafield Avenue between Valley Brook Avenue & Court Avenue. Delafield Avenue between Court Avenue and New York Avenue will be open to residential traffic only. Additionally, there will be no traffic allowed on Court Avenue westbound from Delafield Avenue.
• As always, motorists are advised to use extreme caution both before and after the event in and around the event area. Always stop for pedestrians in crosswalks and comply with any Police Officers instructions. Drive SLOWLY. Help keep our residents, our first responders and our emergency services volunteers’ safe. Be aware that police vehicles, fire apparatus, and ambulances may be responding out from this area, as the event area encompasses our Public Safety Complex.
• NO alcoholic beverages are allowed to be brought into the event at any time, or consumed in public. Exceptions to this are within a temporary designated area for alcoholic beverages purchased on site also referred to as a “Beer Garden.”
• With the exception of service animals, no pets will be permitted into the event area.
• Bicycles, scooters, skateboards, etc. must be walked through the event area for the safety of all.
• There will be handicapped drop off for the event at the entry points to the event. Cars can drop off handicapped persons curbside and then leave immediately.
• All vehicles are to be parked legally and obey both permanent and temporary signage specific to the area.
• Rain dates will be announced if necessary. Please do not call police headquarters for information. If the concerts are canceled or rescheduled, an additional message will be sent. Check social media sites for updated information, and download the Lyndhurst OEM mobile application if you have not done so already.
• In the event of a thunderstorm/ visible lightning, seek shelter in a safe and calm manner as you make your way out of the park area. Due to the size of the crowd, there are not many options inside the park that will allow for sheltering. The Office of Emergency Management will be monitoring weather in the area during the event and will make decisions to delay or cancel as necessary to ensure the public’s safety.
We look forward to another safe and successful celebration. As always, Thank You for your cooperation in helping us ensure the utmost level of public safety is provided.
