Deputy Dennis Wallace memorial foundation "DW61" makes donation to Ripon Police Department explorer program
At last night’s Ripon City Council Meeting Retired Modesto Police Department Officer Dave Wallace, brother of slain Stanislaus County Sheriff Deputy Dennis Wallace, along with other members of the charitable foundation created in Deputy Wallace’s memory, DW61, presented a $500 donation to Ripon Police Department Explorer Post #259. The donation, Wallace said, supports causes that were close to his brother’s heart: young people and law-enforcement.
The funds will be used to further the explorer program, including training and participation in explorer competitions. Ripon Police Department Explorers learn about law-enforcement careers by shadowing officers on patrol and other duties, and providing parking and traffic control at special events throughout the year.
Deputy Wallace was killed in the line of duty on November 13, 2016 while investigating a suspicious vehicle. Wallace was a 20-year veteran of the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Department, working in the DARE program and various youth sports and education programs.
