Media Release concerning July 11, 2019 traffic crash North Main Street.(click blue link for details) 
On Thursday July 11, 2019 Officer Matt Huggins was involved in a motor vehicle crash on North Main Street near Valley Street. Officer Huggins was driving a 2016 Dodge Charger (marked Marion Police Department Patrol Vehicle), when a black in color 2006 Chevrolet Silverado driven by Trechele Vail, turned in front of Officer Huggins causing the collision.
The North Carolina Highway Patrol was contacted to investigate this collision, due to officer involvement. After reviewing the download of the Dodge Charger internal computer, it showed that speed was not a factor in the crash. Vail was cited for the contributing factor causing the collision.
