...EXCESSIVE HEAT WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 1 PM WEDNESDAY TO 8 PM CDT SATURDAY... The National Weather Service in St Louis has issued an Excessive Heat Warning, which is in effect from 1 PM Wednesday to 8 PM CDT Saturday. The Excessive Heat Watch is no longer in effect. * HEAT INDEX VALUES...Up to 113 due to temperatures in the upper 90s, and dewpoints in the lower 70s. * TIMING...Beginning Wednesday afternoon and continuing through early Saturday evening. * TEMPERATURE...Highs each afternoon will be in the mid to upper 90s.
Instructions:
Impacts...Dangerously high temperatures and humidity could quickly cause heat stress or heat stroke if precautions are not taken. The very young, the elderly, those without air conditioning, and those participating in strenuous outdoor activities will be the most susceptible. Also, car interiors can reach lethal temperatures in a matter of minutes.
