In the past 2 weeks we have had 4 auto thefts. Three of the cars were unlocked and had the keys in the cars. In the 4^th auto theft, reported early this morning, the victim reported that a criminal entered an unlocked car in their driveway and used the garage door opener to open the overhead garage door. Once in the garage the victim believes the criminal entered the mud room of the house and removed car keys to drive away another car that had been in the driveway. There are numerous groups of young people who are engaging in this type of criminality in the metro Milwaukee area. Because they have had recent criminal success here; they keep coming back. The Whitefish Bay Police Department has arrested several individuals related to these auto thefts and entry to vehicles.  The criminal element communicates amongst themselves when they learn of easy targets, which bring them to our community.   Please make it hard on these criminals!  Lock your cars and make sure you take your keys with you. If you have an attached garage, keep the door between the house and the garage locked. Please leave exterior lights on at night. If you see people engaging in suspicious activity call 911 right away.
