Vermont Agency of Transportation Culvert Project Alert - Winhall Route 30

Project Alert

Jamaica-Winhall Road Reclaim Project

[Route 30 Road Reclaim and Paving]

DATE: Thursday, 7/18/19

PROJECT TYPE: Roadway construction

LOCATION: The Jamaica-Winhall road reclaim and paving project is located at the Vermont Route 30 and Vermont Route 100 N intersection in Jamaica and extends northerly for approximately nine miles to the intersection of VT 30 and VT 11 in Winhall.

TRAFFIC IMPACTS: One-way alternating traffic patterns will be in effect in the area of active construction operations, and motorists may encounter more than one operation throughout the project limits. The traveling public should plan on adding a few extra minutes to their travel time.

SPEED REDUCTION ZONE: The speed limit has been reduced from 50 mph to 40 mph for the duration of the project, and motorists should be aware that there are increased fines for speed violations within the construction zone.

Motorists are advised to reduce speeds when traveling over milled, reclaimed, and gravel surfaces.

Pleased be advised that crews will be working Monday through Saturday, 6:00 am to 6:00 pm

Construction Activities:

Reclaim operations are scheduled to finish up next week.

Paving of base course asphalt began this week and will continue for the next couple of weeks. There will be two days next week where paving will not be able to proceed while reclaim operations finish up.

A one-lane alternating traffic pattern will be in effect in areas of active paving. Please expect delays.

There is a possibility of work on Saturday, 7/20 if the weather forecast is favorable for operations being undertaken.

Construction activities on the Route 30 reclaim project will be coordinated with the Winhall culvert replacement project so as to keep work progressing on both projects.

Please be aware that weather impacts the schedule, particularly when it comes to paving.
