Cooling Centers will be available when the heat index is 100 degrees or more, or the temperature is above 90 degrees. The city of Albion has four cooling centers, the Albion District Library, Forks Senior Center, City Hall, and Tractor Supply Company.
The Albion District Library is a designated cooling center when the temperature is above 90 degrees. Friday, July 19 the library will be open as a cooling center from 3:00p - 8: 00p. Water will be available and at 5:30 a recently released superhero movie will be shown on the big screen in the Naomi Lane room. Saturday library hours are from 10:00a - 5:00p. The library is located at 501 S. Superior in Albion.
City Hall will be available during normal business hours.
For those ages 60 and over, The Forks Senior Center will be open Friday from 8:00a- noon. Seniors may chat with other seniors, play cards, or just cool off.
Tractor Supply will also welcome those needing relief from the heat. Well-behaved pets may come as well with their owners during regular store hours - Friday and Saturday from 8:00a - 9:00p. Please remember there is no seating available at this location.
Gina's has also offered to accept people as a cooling center during their business hours.
