At approximately 11.20PM on July 18th, the Polk County Sheriff's Office received a call of someone impersonating a police officer.  The individual was a white male with a moustache, wearing a black t-shirt and jeans, driving a light colored small SUV (possibly a white Toyota with tinted windows) and used blue lights to stop the vehicle on US Hwy 176 in Saluda. This vehicle was also possibly seen traveling on US Hwy 74 at approximately 7.30PM traveling west into Polk County.  

If you are unsure whether the person pulling you over is actually law enforcement, we recommend activating your hazard lights and reducing your speed before calling 911 to verify the officer's identity while driving to a populated, well lit area.

Parents please inform your teenage drivers about the incident and what they need to do in this situation.
