Due to excessive heat warning Sumpter Twp. Community Center operating as a cooling center. 
Due to the currently active excessive heat warning for our area, the Sumpter Township Community Center (23501 Sumpter Rd.) is scheduled to operate as a cooling center through 4 p.m. today, Friday, July 19. Extended hours are available upon request.
Instructions:
In the event you are homebound or need transportation to the cooling center, please call the Huron-Sumpter 911 Dispatch Center at 734-461-6898. Explain your situation and ask that a Sumpter Township police officer be dispatched to your location. The responding officer will assist you as needed.
If possible, please check on elderly neighbors and pets frequently during this time to ensure their well-being.
Should a resident need us to extend today's hours or open it tomorrow please contact the Huron-Sumpter 911 Dispatch Center at 734-461-6898 and arrangements will be made to accommodate your needs.
