Crossing Guard Openings
Substitute Positions
Crossing Guard candidates must;
- Be citizen and resident of this State;
- Be of sound body and of good health;
- Be of good moral character; and
- Have never been convicted of any criminal offense involving moral turpitude.
Crossing Guard candidates must also be able to;
- Get to and from the crossing post;
- Stand for long periods of time;
- See and distinguish vehicle traffic and dangerous conditions in the roadways; and
- Hear traffic, horns, and other noises approaching in the roadway.
All Cross Guards will receive;
- A minimum of 2 hours of classroom instruction to include information on methods of traffic control and their duties and responsibilities, and
- a minimum of 20 hours of field training with an experienced crossing guard or police officer, and
- Necessary safety equipment and apparel
