CASE: SO1938681
On Sunday, 07/21/19 at 1312 hours, law enforcement officials from the Rock County Sheriff’s Office and Evansville Police Department responded to a report of a three vehicle crash at the intersection of N. STH 213 & W. CTH A in the Town of Magnolia. Fire personnel from Evansville, Footville & Janesville also responded along MD-1, a first response medical doctor from Mercy Hospital & Trauma Center in Janesville, WI.
The initial investigation shows a 2012 Chevy Silverado, driven by Bradley R. Butler, age 24 of Monroe, was traveling eastbound on W. CTH A when he failed to stop at the stop sign. Butler’s Silverado entered the intersection and struck a southbound 2005 Ford F150, driven by Olivia G. McCarthy, age 26 of Footville, and a northbound 2018 Dodge Ram, driven by Michael A. Hurley, age 59 of Evansville. All three vehicles sustained heavy damage as a result of the crash.
Hurley didn’t claim injury on scene initially but was taken to Mercy Hospital for a precautionary evaluation.
McCarthy and her passenger William G. Haggerty, age 25, had to be extricated using the Jaws of Life. Both were taken to Mercy Hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries. A 6 month-old girl in their vehicle was properly restrained in a child safety seat but was transported to Mercy Hospital for evaluation.
Butler also had to be extricated using the Jaws of Life and was transported to Mercy Hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries. It’s anticipated Butler will be cited for Inattentive Driving and Failure to Stop at a Stop Sign Causing Bodily Harm.
The Rock County Sheriff’s Office Crash Reconstruction and Drone Teams also responded to reconstruct the crash, which remains under investigation at this time. The Rock County Highway Department used barricades to detour traffic as the intersection was closed nearly 3 ½ hours during the investigation.
Pursuant to the directive of the Wisconsin Supreme Court, as found in Supreme Court Rule 20:3.6, Trial Publicity, you are advised that a charge is merely an accusation and that a defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
