Grosse Pointe Farms Dept. of Public Safety would like to inform residents that there has been a rise in identity theft cases. Residents are reminded to never give personal information out over the telephone. If a telephone call or text message is received from an unknown number asking for bank information, credit card freezes, check information, wire transfers, etc....do not provide any information. The police department urges residents to find an actual telephone number ( internet search, call information, yellow pages) for their bank or visit the bank in person to confirm telephone call.
