Traffic Stop leads to drugs and fugitive arrest. (click blue link for more details)
An ongoing investigation of a federal fugitive had Investigators with the McDowell County Sheriff's Office and Marion Police Department watching a motel room, at Americas Best Motel on 221 South in Marion, on Monday. A blue in color Honda Civic and a black in color Ford F-150 left the motel at the same moment.
Cpl. Jerry Lewis of the Marion Police Department initiated a traffic stop on the blue Honda Civic on Old 221 South, which yielded 1188 grams of Methamphetamine and 950 grams of Heroin. This was after a McDowell County Sheriff K-9 unit alerted on the vehicle. The vehicle was driven by Ashley Ramsey ( 31 W/F Morganton), who was subsequently charged with Conspiracy to traffic Methamphetamine and Trafficking Methamphetamine.
A McDowell County Sheriff's Deputy initiated a traffic stop on the Ford F-150, which was driven by the federal fugitive. A subsequent search of the hotel room uncovered an additional 50 grams of Methamphetamine and 2.7 grams of Heroin.
A third person was charged with Conspiracy to Traffic Methamphetamine and Trafficking Methamphetamine, Jamie Riddle (31 W/F/ Marion).
Riddle was placed into the custody of the McDowell County Jail under a $200,000.00 bond, while Ramsey was placed under a $175,000.00 bond. Nothing further to release at this time.
