On Monday, July 22, 2019, #LASD Cerritos Station Deputy Isaac responded to a routine call for service regarding a stolen bicycle. When he arrived, a young boy named Brady approached Deputy Isaac and told him he was the one who called. Brady said he searched “How to” in order to report his bike stolen and the number to Cerritos Sheriff’s Station popped up, so he called.
Brady went on to tell Deputy Isaac he received the bike for Christmas last year and he rides his bike every day. He further explained to Deputy Isaac that whomever took his bike from his front porch left a different bike in its place. Brady was sad about the theft of his bike and expressed how disappointed he was.
Feeling compelled to help, Deputy Isaac told Sergeant Garcia about the stolen bike report. Sergeant Garcia, Deputy Isaac and field Deputies searched the surrounding areas but were unable to locate it.
Cerritos Sheriff’s Station Deputies decided to get together and buy a new bike for Brady. Sergeant Garcia drove to the Cerritos Walmart and found a similar bike. He was prepared to purchase it, but not before explaining the situation to Walmart Manager, Katherine Chou. Without hesitation, Katherine said Walmart wanted to donate the bike to Brady. Sergeant Garcia was pleased that the community came together to help a young boy.
Sergeant Garcia contacted Brady’s mother, Kristen Blair, and informed her the surprise they had in store for Brady. Sergeant Garcia asked if it would be possible to present the graciously donated bike to her son the next day. Kristen, unable to hold back tears, was ecstatic and thankful. Kristen said he uses his bike everyday.
Cerritos Mayor Naresh Solanki, Captain Joseph Nunez, Sergeant Garcia, Deputy Isaac, and Brady’s family were there to present him with his new bike. He was so excited, the smile on his face was worth a thousand words.
