A fatal traffic collision involving a pedestrian occurred Sunday evening at Navajo Road and Standing Rock Avenue

SUMMARY:
On Sunday, July 28, 2019, at approximately 9:48 pm, the female driver of a Ford F-350 was traveling north on Navajo Road, north of Standing Rock Avenue. For an unknown reason, a 32-year-old, white male adult was walking in the northbound lane of travel. The pedestrian was struck by the Ford F-350 and suffered major injuries. Deputies from the Apple Valley Police Station and medical personnel responded to the scene and performed life-saving measures. The pedestrian was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced deceased. The female driver remained on scene and was determined not to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
Deputies from the Apple Valley Police Station’s Major Accident Investigation Team (M.A.I.T) responded and conducted the investigation. Navajo Road, between Standing Rock Avenue and Gayhead Road, remained closed for approximately three hours while deputies conducted the investigation.
The collision is currently under investigation by the Apple Valley Police Department, and deputies are seeking additional witnesses.
