On Saturday, July 27, 2019, at approximately 2:52 a.m., deputies from the Rock County Sheriff’s Office were sent to 506 Main Street in the Village of Orfordville, for a hit and run traffic accident. It was reported that a subject was struck by a vehicle and that vehicle fled the scene.
Orfordville EMS was also sent to the scene and were on scene when deputies arrived. The subject that was struck by the vehicle was lying in the roadway and was semiconscious. The victim was identified as Joshua Johnson, 40 years old of Orfordville. Johnson was transported to Mercy Hospital and is currently being treated for a head injury in the Intensive Care Unit.
The suspect driver was identified as Luke Kasten, 29 years old, also of Orfordville. Sheriff’s Office detectives interviewed Kasten on July 29th. After the interview, Kasten was arrested for Hit and Run and 1st Degree Reckless Injury. Kasten is currently being held at the Rock County Jail. He will have his initial court appearance on Wednesday, July 31, 2019.
The incident remains under investigation by the Rock County Sheriff’s Office.
