Press Release: Traffic Enforcement Operations
The Milpitas Police Department has partnered with the California Office of Traffic Safety and will be conducting an enforcement operation throughout the month of August. The Primary Collision Factor Enforcement Operation will focus on violations that commonly cause traffic collisions. Officers will specifically look for moving violations involving speed, stop sign violations, red light violations, illegal turns, failure to yield, distracted driving, and other dangerous vehicle code violations.
The Milpitas Police Department has analyzed two (2) years of accident data to identify locations and violations that caused those accidents. Extra officers will be on duty patrolling the areas where traffic congestion and collisions occur. The goal of this enforcement operation is to decrease traffic related injuries and deaths, while encouraging safe driving.
As summer ends and a new school year beings, we expect more vehicle and pedestrian traffic around schools; so please drive safely and arrive alive!
Funding for this program is provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
