INDIANAPOLIS – Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) Crime Gun Intelligence Center (CGIC) detectives apprehend man and remove
On Thursday August 1, 2019 at approximately 10 am, investigators with the IMPD- and ATF-led Indianapolis Crime Gun Intelligence Center (Indy CGIC) and IMPD SWAT served a search warrant on a known drug house on the east side of Indianapolis.
Investigators initiated an investigation into Earl Neal who was believed to be dealing narcotics from his residence while armed.
CGIC investigators located evidence of narcotics dealing inside the residence.

- 1 loaded 9mm Smith and Wesson SW40VE handgun
- Apx 30 grams of marijuana- prepackaged for sale
- Apx 100 grams of synthetic marijuana (spice)
- Several prepackaged baggies containing suspected cocaine
- 1 baggie with apx 20 grams of multi-colored pills, suspected XANAX
- 1 digital scale

Introduced to the community earlier this year, Indy CGIC is an interagency collaboration that puts officers in direct contact with local and federal law enforcement partners. The CGIC model focuses on the collection and real-time analysis of crime gun evidence from homicides and non-fatal shootings using forensic technologies to generate investigative leads, allowing IMPD to more effectively target the most violent offenders and their sources of crime guns. This crackdown on the illegal possession of firearms by Serious Violent Felons is part of the City’s community-focused violence reduction strategy.
The launch of Indy CGIC followed $35 million in public safety technology investments announced last year. Since January, CGIC has led to the removal of 172 violent individuals and 120 crime guns from the community. For a look inside CGIC, click here.
