The Los Altos Police Department is pleased to announce its first-ever ‘Pack the Patrol Car’ event benefiting local K-8 schools.

Before students head back to class, the Los Altos Police Department, in partnership with the community, wants to ‘Pack the Patrol Car’ with school supplies for the upcoming school year. ‘Pack the Patrol Car’ will take place on Wednesday, August 14, 2019 from 4-7 pm on the Downtown Green; the City’s annual pop-up park located on Third Street between State and Main Streets in Downtown Los Altos.

Los Altos School Resource Officer Josh Cottrell identified the need for this type of supply drive and worked with the Los Altos School District (LASD) on a plan for how the supplies will be distributed. LASD will identify low-income students and take the lead in distributing donated supplies to children in need.

Los Altos Police will be accepting new school supplies including backpacks, pencils, pens, highlighters, folders, notebooks, glue, markers, crayons, erasers, notebook paper and scissors. Anyone interested in donating items that cannot attend ‘Pack the Patrol Car’ on August 14 is welcome to drop donations off at the Los Altos Police Department located at 1 N San Antonio Road between August 10 – 17. The Police Department main lobby is accessible 24/7; if dropping off donations outside normal business hours (8am – 5pm), please place supplies in a bag marked donation.

We hope to see many of you at what we hope will be another fun, family-friendly event. Officers will be in attendance and will have some fun items to share, including treats!
