Controlled Burn in Orinda Oaks Park - Thursday August 8th 
The Moraga Orinda Fire District (MOFD) will be doing a prescribed burn in the Orinda Oaks Park on Thursday August 8th (tomorrow). The project is scheduled to start around 10:00 a.m. A portion of the burn will occur in Moraga and residents may see or smell smoke from the fire.
The park will remain open during the burn but visitors are asked to use extra caution when walking or riding on Donald Drive. Residents in the area should close windows to reduce the possibility of smoke entering their homes.
This prescribed fire will be closely monitored and is an critical tool in reducing flammable vegetation in the area. It will also provide an important test for MOFD's fire sensors that are an important piece of our early warning system for wildland fires.
