Planned DUI Checkpoint

On Friday, August 23, 2019 between 8:00 PM and 3:00 AM the following morning, the Torrance Police Department Traffic Division will conduct a DUI/Drivers License checkpoint at an undisclosed location. The checkpoint will be funded by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Our Police Department offers these reminders to ensure a fun night doesn’t get spoiled with a DUI:

Always use a designated sober driver – a friend who is not drinking, ride-
share, cab or public transportation – to get home.
 See  someone  who  is  clearly  impaired  try  and  drive?  Take  the  keys  and
help them make other arrangements to find a sober way home.
  Report drunk drivers – Call 911.
 Hosting a party? Offer nonalcoholic drinks. Monitor who are drinking and
  how they are getting home.

The  impact  of  a  DUI  arrest  can be  upwards  of  $13,500.  This  includes  fines,  fees,  DUI classes,  license  suspension  and  possible  jail  time.   The  Torrance  Police  Department continues  to  encourage  the  community  to  be  vigilant  and  report  Drunk  Drivers.  “See Something, Say Something”.
