Pedestrian sustained minor injures after being struck by train
On August 21, 2019, at approximately 7:00 PM, a Simi Valley Police Sergeant observed that the Amtrak train was stopped and blocking the street on Hidden Ranch Dr. south of Los Angeles Ave. The Sergeant made contact with an Amtrak employee to investigate the problem. The employee advised the Sergeant that as the train departed eastbound from the train station at 5050 Los Angeles Ave. a pedestrian attempted to cross the train tracks and was struck by the train. After the pedestrian was knocked to the ground, the pedestrian, described as a white male in his 30’s, fled the area and jumped the nearby fence. SVPD officers searched the area for the pedestrian and located him at a nearby bike path. The pedestrian sustained minor injuries from the accident and was seen by the ambulance but refused medical attention.
