A small fire at the Pool & Classroom Building construction site on the west side of campus has been extinguished. The cause is unknown, but fire trucks are on site and all employees and students are asked to avoid the area.
Also, power is out at El Camino College due to a problem with Southern California Edison equipment. It is not yet known whether the power outage and the small fire are related. Approximately 1,800 power customers in the immediate vicinity of campus are affected. Edison has not stated a cause for the outage, but the company has estimated power will be restored by 4 p.m.
