Coastal Flood Warning until 01:00AM Sunday
The National Weather Service in Charleston has issued a Coastal Flood Warning, which is in effect from 7 PM this evening to 1 AM EDT Sunday. A High Rip Current Risk has also been issued. This High Rip Current Risk is in effect from Sunday morning through Sunday evening. The Coastal Flood Watch is no longer in effect.
* LOCATIONS...Beaufort, Coastal Colleton and Charleston.
* COASTAL FLOOD IMPACTS...One to two feet of inundation above ground level is possible in low-lying areas near shorelines and tidal waterways (7.8 to 8.2 feet Mean Lower Low Water). Significant saltwater inundation will render numerous roads impassable. Properties may also flood.
* SURF ZONE IMPACTS...Very strong rip currents will be dangerous to anyone who enters the surf.
* TIMING...High tide will occur around 9:43 PM today at Charleston. Saltwater inundation will be possible 2 to 3 hours before and after high tide.
* AFFECTED AREAS: BEAUFORT ... CHARLESTON ... COASTAL COLLETON
Instructions:
Take the necessary actions to protect flood-prone property. If travel is required, do not drive around barricades or through water of unknown depth. No one should enter the surf due to life threatening rip currents.
