Swearing-in Ceremony for New #Saratoga Springs Police Chief Scheduled for September 10th, 2019

The public is invited to attend the swearing-in ceremony for the City of Saratoga Springs’s new Police Chief Shane Crooks on Tuesday, September 10th, 2019 at the City Recreation Center located at 15 Vanderbilt Ave, Saratoga Springs. The event is slated to begin at 5:30pm and will include speeches from Police Chief Shane Crooks and Saratoga Springs Commissioner of Public Safety, Peter Martin.

“Shane has developed many strong skills in his career in law enforcement, especially his ability to communicate openly and clearly with the public as well as members of the force, said Commissioner Martin. I expect that he will bring community policing and public outreach to a new level in our city.”

Chief Shane Crooks will be serving as the City’s 21st Chief of Police. The Department of Public Safety would like to thank Chief John Catone for his service to the City as Chief of Police over the past several months.

Parking is available at the City Recreation Center and the overflow parking lot on Worth Street. Light refreshments will be served.

About Chief Crooks:
Chief Shane Crooks is a fifteen-year veteran of the Saratoga Springs Police Department, where he worked his way through the ranks as a patrol officer, investigator, sergeant and patrol division lieutenant. He is currently responsible for supervising the overall operations of the Patrol Division during his shifts and for conducting internal investigations as assigned. He has developed excellent working relationships with the District Attorney’s Office, the FBI, Secret Service, New York State Police, the Department of Homeland Security and many local schools, colleges and businesses.

Crooks began his law enforcement career with the Saratoga County Sheriff’s Department, where he served for over six years. Lt. Crooks is a graduate of Adirondack Community College and Empire State College. He currently resides in Corinth with his wife, Kiley, and two
children.
