On September 4, 2019, at 11:22 p.m. Deputy Loren Barchett conducted a traffic stop on a White 2010 Chrysler Sebring for failing to maintain its lane of travel on US 41 near County Road 1025 South. Upon approaching the vehicle Deputy Barchett identified the driver as 19 year old Kennedy Wilkerson of Oakland City. During a roadside investigation Deputy Barchett ran Ms. Wilkerson through the Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicle and discovered that Ms. Wilkerson’s operator’s status was listed as suspended on a prior conviction. At that point Deputy Barchett with the assistance of Deputy Bryce Jutzi placed Ms. Wilkerson into custody and transported her to the Gibson County Jail. Upon arriving at the Gibson County Jail Ms. Wilkerson was charged with Driving While Suspended/Prior. She has since posted a $650 bond.
