SUSPECT #1: Toan Pham Khanh Le, 26-year old San Jose resident
On September 4, 2019, at approximately 06:08 P.M., a resident called the Milpitas Police Department to report a suspicious person in their backyard. Officers arrived within three (3) minutes however; the subject stole a bicycle and fled the scene before they arrived.
Approximately two (2) hours later, an officer assigned to the Great Mall of the Bay Area remembered the subject’s description and found him in the parking lot of the Great Mall, approximately three (3) miles from where the theft occurred. The officer stopped the subject and identified him as Toan Le, a San Jose resident. Le was arrested and the stolen bicycle was returned to the resident.
Le is on probation in Santa Clara County for burglary and resisting and evading arrest. Le was booked into the Santa Clara County main jail for theft, prowling, possession of a controlled substance, a probation violation, and being under the influence of a controlled substance.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank the resident for immediately reporting the incident. The prompt reporting of the incident, the quick arrival of the responding officers, and the vigilance of the officer three (3) miles away made this arrest possible and allowed the victim to get their property back.
