LOCATION: 1400(B) Currant Drive and 200(B) Garden Street, Milpitas
CASE #: 19-239-036 and 19-239-605
SUSPECT: Patricia Vasconcelos De Abreu, 48-years-old San Jose resident
On August 27, 2019 at about 0700 hours, officers responded to a report of a burglary at a residence on the 1400 block of Currant Drive. The suspect entered an open garage door and stole a $1,700 bicycle. On the same day, a resident on the 200 block of Garden Street made an online report of a package theft. In both cases, officers were able to obtain surveillance camera footage and determined that the same person was responsible for the burglary and package theft.
Officers sent the surveillance camera footage to other law enforcement agencies for assistance in identifying the suspect. Officers from Santa Clara Police Department and Alameda Police Department were quickly able to identify the suspect as Patricia De Abreu. Milpitas Police Detectives obtained a $50,000 Ramey arrest warrant for De Abreu for burglary and petty theft.
On September 4, 2019, Milpitas Police Detectives located De Abreu on the 600 block of North King Road in San Jose and took her into custody without incident. After interviewing De Abreu, she was booked into the Santa Clara County Jail for the warrant.
The Milpitas Police Department would like to thank those citizens that came forward with surveillance camera footage of the two incidents, as it was instrumental in apprehending De Abreu. We would also like to remind our residents to lock their doors, windows, and if you have an alarm to activate it when leaving your home or going to bed for the evening. Taking these steps could prevent you from becoming a victim of a burglary or theft.
If you have any information regarding either incident or De Abreu, please call the Milpitas Police Department at (408) 586-2400. Additionally, the information can be given anonymously by calling the Crime Tip Hotline at (408) 586-2500 or via the Milpitas Police Department Website at: http://www.ci.milpitas.ca.gov/crimetip
