Public Works
Projects—
- Pearl Street Illinois Transportation Enhancement Program Improvements – Light pole foundation excavation has been completed at a number of parkway locations on Pearl Street this week. Spot removal and replacements of non-stamped sidewalks are currently ongoing as well as removals in front of Veterans Park. Stamped concrete pattern and color selections are currently being finalized.
- Curran Road Highway Safety Improvement Program Project – Brush clearing for fill placement was scheduled to begin this week; however, this work was delayed due to subcontractor approval delays. Underground work including storm sewer laterals is anticipated to begin shortly.
- 2019 Road Resurfacing Program – Concrete Curb and Gutter Removal and Replacements in Glacier Ridge Subdivision began this week and are anticipated to be completed over the course of the next two weeks. Upon completion of concrete work, asphalt surface removal will begin.
Street Division—
- Crews placed over 60 tons of asphalt on Timber Trail and Flower Street.
- The morning of September 12th, Street Division crews responded to multiple flooding calls after a rainfall of over five inches. Division staff assisted the Police Department with the closure and reopening of Route 31 as well as a number of other City Street closures at various locations throughout town. Staff have continued to monitor all critical drainage facilities to ensure that storm flows are not restricted by debris.
Wastewater Division—
- Due to this week’s heavy rainfall events, the Wastewater Division has been fully engaged in operating the plant under extremely high flow conditions and monitoring all Lift Station facilities to ensure that flows are accommodated by the wastewater treatment and collection system. Staff have had several after-hours call outs and have been continuously operating the new wastewater plant in storm mode which will continue until flows recede.
Utility Division—
- Personnel installed drain tile on the south side of Dartmoor Drive from 5215 Dartmoor Drive to Augusta Drive. This was done in an attempt to prevent the icing that occurs in the winter at the intersection of Water’s Edge Drive from naturally occurring ground water.
