Mosquito and Reducing Mosquito Population

Good Afternoon,
On Friday, Idalou Vector Control met with City of Lubbock Vector Control. The City of Lubbock Vector Control Department is responsible for surveying, monitoring and controlling mosquito populations within the City of Lubbock and Lubbock County.

During the meeting, Lubbock Vector Control, informed Idalou Vector Control, that a trap within the City of Idalou had approximately 22 mosquitoes. The species of the mosquitoes found in the trap is known as Aedes aegypti. This species is one that has been known to carry West Nile and Zika. The City of Idalou will increase the number of times vector control sprays. To get a full grasp of this problem we need your help. The City of Idalou ask that you drain standing water in your yard, from a water bowl to tires, these are mosquito breeding grounds. By eliminate breeding sites and increase spraying by vector control we are reducing the mosquito population. More information regarding mosquitoes can be found by visiting the City of Lubbock Vector Control website: https://ci.lubbock.tx.us/departments/health-department/vector-control.

We appreciate your help.
