...RED FLAG WARNING IN EFFECT FROM NOON TO 9 PM MDT TODAY FOR WIND, LOW RELATIVE HUMIDITY AND DRY FUELS FOR SOUTHEAST UTAH FIRE WEATHER ZONES 490 AND 491 AND SOUTHWEST COLORADO FIRE WEATHER ZONES 207 AND 290... .An approaching upper level trough will mix strong southwest winds to the surface across southeast Utah and southwest Colorado today. This combination of gusty winds, along with low relative humidity and dry fuels, will result in critical fire weather conditions. Therefore, a Red Flag Warning has been issued for this afternoon and evening until 9 PM MDT. The National Weather Service in Grand Junction has issued a Red Flag Warning for wind and low relative humidity, which is in effect from noon today to 9 PM MDT this evening.

* AFFECTED AREA...In Colorado, Fire Weather Zone 207 Southwest Colorado Lower Forecast Area and Fire Weather Zone 290 Paradox Valley Forecast Area.

* WINDS...Southwest 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 35 mph.

* RELATIVE HUMIDITY...10 to 15 percent.

* IMPACTS...Conditions will be favorable for the rapid ignition and spread of fires. Open burning is strongly discouraged.

* AFFECTED AREAS: SOUTHWEST COLORADO LOWER FORECAST AREA ... PARADOX VALLEY
