GTPD Media Advisory: Enhanced Patrol and Automated License Plate Reader (ALPR) Leads to The Arrest of Suspect From Neighborhood Shooting

On 9/16/2019, at approximately 7:51 PM, the Gloucester Township Police 24 Hour Community Policing Dispatch Center received a 9-1-1 call for the report of gun shots in the area of the park on Yorkshire Court in the Sicklerville area of Gloucester Township. Officers arrived on location and located several spent casings in the area. A crime scene was established and enhanced patrol efforts were conducted in the area to locate the perpetrators or injured persons, which they were not.
During the investigation, video surveillance from surrounding residences and the Gloucester Township Remote Monitor Station (RMS) surveillance cameras, that overlook the park, revealed a dark colored vehicle traveling down Yorkshire Court with the headlights off. The driver of the vehicle reaches out of the window and fires multiple shots at subjects walking in the area of the park and leaving at a high rate of speed. Officers were able to locate three uninjured victims who advised they exchanged words with the driver of the vehicle at which time they walked away from the driver. While in the area of the park, the driver of the vehicle began to fire several shots in their direction.
The Gloucester Township Intelligence Services Unit (ISU) was able to locate a vehicle and person of interest after utilizing an Automated License Plate Reader (ALPR). Information was relayed to investigating detectives and Enhanced Pro-Active Police Operations were immediately conducted locating the suspect vehicle where the male, indentified as Tryric Robinson from Chesilhurst, was stopped by the Gloucester Township Police operating the vehicle of interest.
Gloucester Township Police Detectives then completed their investigation by gathering evidence and statements which led to charges against Tyric L. Robinson.
Tyric L. Robinson was charged with 3 counts of attempted murder (1st Degree), Unlawful Possession of a Weapon (2nd degree), Possession of a Weapon for Unlawful Purpose (2nd Degree) and 3 counts of Aggravated Assault (2nd Degree). Mr. Robinson was remanded to the Camden County Correctional Facility pending a Central First Appearance in accordance with the New Jersey Criminal Justice Reform Act.
