...Heavy rain likely late tonight into Sunday evening... .A tropical air mass was in place across the area and will remain in place as several waves of energy and a slow moving cold front move through the region. Rainfall amounts of 2 to over 3 inches will be possible from southeast Kansas into west central Missouri, with the heaviest rain expected late tonight into Sunday evening. Despite the dry conditions over the past several weeks, the tropical air mass in place will lend to very efficient heavy rain producers and if these storms can train across the same locations, then some flash flooding will be possible. The National Weather Service in Springfield has issued a

* Flash Flood Watch for portions of southeast Kansas and Missouri, including the following areas, in southeast Kansas, Bourbon, Cherokee, and Crawford. In Missouri, Barton, Benton, Cedar, Morgan, St. Clair, and Vernon.

* From this evening through late Sunday night

* Heavy rain across the same locations from late tonight through Sunday evening. Rain amounts of 2 to over 3 inches will be possible which may lead to some flash flooding.

* Flooding will be the most likely over low lying areas and near creeks, streams and rivers over southeast Kansas into west central Missouri.

* AFFECTED AREAS: BOURBON ... CRAWFORD ... BENTON ... BARTON ... VERNON ... CHEROKEE ... CEDAR ... ST. CLAIR ... MORGAN
