In July 2019, Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station detectives made renewed efforts in asking the public for their assistance in locating a suspect wanted for an attempt murder that occurred in August 2015.

On August 28, 2015, suspect Kenneth Mitchell, 30, allegedly drove by a condo complex located on the 28000 block of Sarabande Lane in Canyon Country and fired a handgun at a male adult victim, striking him in the leg. The suspect then fled the scene.

COBRA detectives, with the assistance of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department Major Crimes Bureau, located the suspect in Kansas City, Missouri. The U.S. Marshals Service task force in Kansas City was contacted with the suspect's whereabouts, and through their local investigation, Kenneth Mitchell was taken into custody on September 11, 2019. 

On Wednesday, September 25, 2019, COBRA detectives Dan Finn and Mark Barretto traveled to Kansas City, Missouri to take custody of Kenneth Mitchell pursuant to an extradition warrant. Mitchell is currently being held at the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Station on $2 million bail pending a future court appearance.
