As a precautionary measure of the continuing response plan from the Saint Simons Sound Golden Ray incident, oil boom was deployed this morning across the mouth of Clam Creek near the fishing pier in response to a recent discharge from the vessel.
At this time, there have been no reports of oil on Jekyll Island beaches or marsh areas. Jekyll Island Authority staff, alongside the U.S. Coast Guard Unified Command, will be continuously monitoring beach shorelines and coastal marsh areas for any changes.
