On October 1st, at approximately 7 PM, Walnut/Diamond Bar Station deputies observed a vehicle driving on Cantaria Avenue, in Rowland Heights. The vehicle violated several traffic laws and deputies attempted a traffic stop of the vehicle. The vehicle failed to yield and continued driving erratically through the residential neighborhood. The deputies initiated a pursuit of the vehicle.
The suspect vehicle drove north on Fullerton Road, driving on the opposite side of the road, maneuvering around vehicles, and ran a red light, endangering other drivers on the road.
The driver of the vehicle turned into the Yes Plaza Shopping Center on Fullerton Road. As the vehicle drove through the parking lot, the driver and two rear passengers jumped out of the moving vehicle and attempted to run from the deputies, while the front passenger remained in the vehicle. The uncontrolled vehicle then collided with two parked vehicles adjacent to the Banana Bay Restaurant.
Deputies took the front passenger and one of the rear passengers immediately into custody and set up a containment of the area.
The driver of the vehicle was located inside the containment. He was arrested and charged with several crimes, including Grand Theft-Auto and Driving under the Influence of Drugs/Alcohol. The passengers were detained for further investigation.
