09/03/2019 Larceny from Residence
9500 Block of Lake Point – A resident reported that sometime between July 17 & Sept 3, an unknown individual took a watch belonging to her husband. During this time, several known parties had visited and even stayed at the residence. The case remains under investigation.

09/03/2019 Illegal Dumping
3000 Block of Moceri Lane – The residents reported that sometime between Friday, August 30 9:30 am and Tuesday Sept 1, 3pm, unknown subjects dumped approximately 20 large tires on their property. No witnesses or evidence was determined at the time of the report. If anyone has information regarding this matter they are asked to call the Northfield Twp Police.

09/04/2019 Arrest - Driving on Suspended License / Fugitive
Warrant
7 Mile & Sunny Oaks – An officer on patrol observed a traffic violation (speed) and upon a traffic stop determined the driver was driving on a suspended license and was wanted on an outstanding warrant. The driver was arrested and her vehicle turned over to a relative with a valid driver’s license. The driver was given a citation and released from the Northfield Twp Police Department.

09/04/20196 Fraudulent Use of a Debit Card
100 Block of Westbrook – A resident reported that on Sept 3 she discovered unauthorized charges to her debit card. The victim believes she may have been manipulated to provide her debit card number to a possible “fake” Netflix email. The victim was advised to contact her bank which reimbursed her account. The case is closed.

Remember: Do not provide unexpected emails with credit or debit card information. Never give out any personal information to unsolicited requests.

09/05/2019 Trespass Warning
9400 Block of Main St – Officers received a complaint of a female subject begging at a local business. The owner of the establishment did not want the subject on his property. Officers determined the identity of the subject and issued the individual a trespass notice, advising the subject that she was not welcome at the business and should she return, she would be arrested.

09/06/2019 Retail Fraud (theft) / Trespass Notice Issued
6 Mile -Speedway – Officers responded to a juvenile suspect attempting to steal beer. When officers arrived the clerk was waiting with the suspect, as a customer assisted in keeping the suspect at the location. Officers located the stolen property in the juvenile suspects backpack, returned the property to the business, and transported the suspect home. The suspect was issued a trespass warning not to enter the business again or he would be arrested.

09/06/2019 Larceny from Grounds
Emerald Circle & 8 Mile Rd – Northfield Estates management reported that between Sept 5 at 12pm and Sept 6 at 8 am, unknown subjects removed a snowplow blade from a secured gate without compromising the lock. No evidence or witnesses were developed at the time of the report. If anyone knows anything regarding this theft, they are asked to contact the Northfield Twp Police Department.

09/06/2019 Trespass Notice Issued
Speedway – Six Mile Rd –Officers responded to a complaint of threats being made to employees when they refused to sell a subject alcohol. After interviewing the manager and additional employees, officers spoke with the suspect and issued him a trespass warning. The subject was advised not to visit the Speedway Store or he would be arrested.

09/09/2019 Larceny (Theft without force) from Automobile
Marco’s Parking lot – Officers responded to a complaint of an unknown subject observed in an employee’s vehicle. The owner of the vehicle stated that she left her vehicle unlocked while she was at work. When the owner returned to her vehicle she observed a W/M/ tall & thin with dark hair, wearing a white shirt and shorts in the passenger seat of her car. The suspect fled the scene, but only after taking the victim’s wallet containing her drivers license, debit card and cash. Officers were unable to locate the suspect who had fled into the wooded area. Evidence was collected at the scene and the case remains under investigation.

09/13/2019 Malicious Destruction of Property
9300 Block of Wildwood –Complainant sated that on 09/12/2019 at approximately 8:00pm her rural mailbox post was observed intact, but was discovered broken on 09/13/2019 at 9:49am with her receptacle on the road. Tire marks were observed, but no witnesses were located at the time of the report. If anyone has any knowledge of this incident they are asked to call the Northfield Twp Police.

09/13/2019 Misdemeanor Citation for Trespass
9400 Block of Main Street- An officer on patrol observed a previously warned subject on the property of a business where she had been served a written warning not to return. The subject was escorted off the property and given a Misdemeanor citation requiring a court appearance.

09/13/2019 Fraud
9400 Block of Sandlewood – A complainant stated that sometime in July he received a call advising him that his computer had encountered a virus. The caller was given access to control the computer. On 09/06, the complainant received a second call saying the caller had control over the complainant’s computer. The caller convinced the complainant to purchase 4 Amazon gift cards and provide the caller with the account numbers. After complying, the complainant became suspicious and contacted their bank. The bank closed out the account and turned the incident over to their fraud division. No suspects have been developed.

REMEMBER: Never let any unsolicited caller take over your computer or be given access to your personal information. Payment agreements should be made by check or money order, never gift cards.

09/15/2019 Arrest – Felonious Assault
9400 Block of Main Street – Officers responded to a fight in progress, suspects armed with knives. When officers arrived they discovered all parties were still on the scene. The investigation confirmed that a physical assault occurred, and knives had been pulled. Officers recovered the knives, and placed one in custody while charges were submitted to the prosecutor’s office against the 2nd suspect. Charges were authorized for 2 counts of Felonious Assault and 1 count of Malicious Destruction of Property.

09/16/2019 Attempt B & E Business
Indian Trails Driving Range- At 8:27 pm Officers responded to an alarm and observed signs of an attempted forced entry. The investigation revealed that no entry was made and the owner of the business confirmed that no property was taken. Evidence was collected and the case remains under investigation.
*** Video footage places a light colored sedan on the property with one suspect. If anyone has any information regarding this vehicle or incident, they are asked to contact the Northfield Twp Police.


09/17/2019 Hit & Run
E. North Territorial & U. S 23 – The victim stated he stopped his vehicle to make a turn when his vehicle was struck from behind. The striking vehicle continued driving until it reached its’ destination. The victim followed the striking vehicle and confronted the driver when she parked the car. Both returned to Northfield Police where a report was made. The investigating officer determined that the striking vehicles’ driver intentionally left the scene of the crash and a citation was issued.

09/17/2019 Reckless Driver
300 Barker – The homeowner reported that he observed a possible Black Tahoe or Suburban driving at a high rate of speed, disregard the stop sign at the adjoining intersection and drove onto his lawn. When the driver observed the homeowner, he backed off the lawn and continued eastbound on Barker. Officers were unable to locate the vehicle involved.

09/17/2019 Arrest –Fugitive Warrant
Officers assisted in locating a wanted suspect for a neighboring police jurisdiction. The suspect was arrested at his place of employment and turned over to the jurisdiction holding the warrant

09/18/2019 Arrest -Operating While Intoxicated
Northbound 23 & 6 Mile Rd – An officer on patrol observed unsafe driving behavior and upon initiating a traffic stop observed signs by the driver suggesting he was intoxicated. Upon completion of sobriety assessments; the driver was arrested for drinking and driving. The driver became uncooperative and a search warrant was obtained for his blood. A blood draw was completed at the hospital and sent to the lab. The lab results revealed the arrested/driver was intoxicated when he was driving and a high BAC. An OWI warrant was submitted to the prosecutor’s office.

09/20/2019 Identity Theft
5100 Block of Nollar – A complainant reported that an unauthorized Comcast account was opened in his name. After receiving a collection notice, the victim contacted Comcast and determined someone used his name in opening an account on the west side of the state. Comcast is investigating and the victim has no liability for the unpaid account. The victim was advised to run a credit check to determine if additional accounts had been opened in his name.


09/21/2019 Identity Theft
9000 Block of Lincoln –An officer received a report that someone rented a local storage unit in the victim’s name. The victim earlier this summer reported her wallet containing personal identifications was stolen. The case remains under investigation.

09/21/2019 Arrest – Aggravated Assault
8 Mile & U.S 23 – Officers responded to an assault causing a vehicle crash. The investigating Officers determined that an Uber driver had been assaulted from one of his passengers. To escape the assault, the driver jumped from his moving vehicle. The responding officers located the suspects involved, through the investigation, Officers placed one suspect under arrest. The suspect was over to the agency having jurisdiction at the location of the assault.

09/22/2019 Malicious Destruction of Property
7100 Block of Spencer – A homeowner reported that someone had cut the brake lines to his flatbed trailer. The case was closed after all investigative leads were exhausted.

09/23/2019 Loitering Complaint
Sunoco Gas Station – East North Territorial – Officers responded on a female requesting rides from customers. The subject stated she had no money, had no one to call, and needed a ride to another city. An officer transported her to a safe location nearer to her desired destination.

09/23/2019 Malicious Destruction of Property
9200 Block of Main St – The complainant reported that an ex-boyfriend whom she had words with earlier in the day saw her at the gas station, confronted her, and kicked the door of her car causing damage to the vehicle. After an additional investigation and interviews; the report was forwarded to the prosecutor’s office where charges were denied.

09/23/2019 Misdemeanor Citation for Trespass
9400 Block of Main Street- An officer on patrol observed a previously warned subject on the property of a business where she had been served a previous citation and advised not to return. The subject was issued another Misdemeanor citation requiring a court appearance and told to stay off the property.

09/24/2019 Malicious Destruction of Property
200 Block of Emerald Circle – A resident reported that sometime between 7 am and 5:30pm someone shot his front windows with a pellet gun. The officer responding observed 3 holes in the glass and discovered a pellet inside the residence. The case remains under investigation. 09/25/2019 UDAA (Stolen Vehicle)
200 Block of Opal – The victim reported he parked his vehicle in his driveway at 7pm on Sept 24, at 5:45am on Sept 25 he discovered his vehicle missing. The owner stated he left his vehicle unlocked with the keys in the vehicle. The case remains under investigation.

***Remember to lock and secure your vehicle every time you park it. Also, take all valuables with you or keep them secured in the trunk.

09/27/2019 Arrest – Civil Warrant Child Support
Officers assisted in locating a wanted suspect for a neighboring jurisdiction. The suspect was arrested and turned over to the jurisdiction holding the warrant.

09/27/2019 Attempt Larceny from Auto
6700 Block of Whitmore Lake – An employee reported that sometime between Thursday Sept 26 and Friday Sept 27 someone attempted to gain entry to a work vehicle. Pry marks were observed on the passenger door and the rubber seal. It did not appear the subject gained entry and no property was discovered missing. The case remains under investigation.

09/28/2019 Citations - Curfew Violation, Minor in Possession of
Tobacco & Minor in Possession of Alcohol 1st Offense

200 block of Glenmoor – Officers responded to a call that an unknown subject was attempting to enter the callers backdoor of their residence. Officers arrived to find a juvenile in the callers secured backyard. The juvenile appeared intoxicated and uncooperative. The juvenile was detained, transported to the police station and his mother contacted. Upon completion of the investigation, the juvenile male was issued citations requiring court appearances and released to his mother.


09/28/2019 Hit & Run
Schrum – An officer responded to a report of a Hit and Run. The complainant stated that an unknown vehicle pulled into her driveway to ask directions and when the vehicle exited the driveway it struck the complainants vehicle before driving away. No evidence was available at the time of the report. If anyone witnessed the crash, and has information on the vehicle, they are asked to contact the Northfield Police.
