Public Works

Projects—
  • Pearl Street Illinois Transportation Enhancement Program Improvements – Pours for concrete light pole foundations are completed and directional boring of the electrical distribution system is now underway.  Stamped concrete pours along Pearl Street between Park Street and Riverside Drive are currently being completed.  Concrete removals on the north side of Pearl Street at the Riverside Drive intersection are ongoing.  Upon completion of all work in the north side of Pearl Street, there will be a stage change and operations will move to the south side.
  • 2019 Road Resurfacing Program – Asphalt binder has been placed in Glacier Ridge subdivision.  Driveway patching of damaged driveways will be completed next week, and final asphalt surface is expected to be completed in the next 10 days.  Periodic lane closures are expected as the contractor works to complete the project. There were a number of subgrade failures on Chickaloon Drive west of Matanuska which are currently being remediated.  Asphalt milling on Curran Road is anticipated to begin shortly.

  • Curran Road Highway Safety Improvement Program Project – HMA paving and asphalt surface course removal are currently delayed.  City staff and the project’s Phase III consultant have notified Curran Contracting that the project will not be completed on time and that liquidated damages for overruns in contract time will be enforced.  Work is still scheduled to begin this month.

Street Division—
  • The Fall Brush Pickup Program began on Monday, September 30th. Street Division crews have continued to pick up brush piles throughout the city.

Utility Division—
  • Utility Division personnel replaced fire hydrants at 5202 Winslow Court and 5310 Malibu Court.  The internal stem on both fire hydrants broke during hydrant flushing and were thus replaced due to age and availability of parts.
  • Utility Division personnel repaired fire hydrants at 3805 Timothy Lane and at the intersection of Amberwood Place and Geneva Place. After hydrant flushing, these fire hydrants were found leaking, and the main seats were replaced.
