**Update, the aerial spray will not occur on Thursday, October 10th due to weather conditions. The aerial spray is now scheduled for Monday, October 14, 2019.

The City of Idalou as a part of a coalition of regional cities, has arranged for aerial spraying for mosquitoes. When the plane flies will be determined by wind speeds and ambient temperature. Given these factors, we hope to have aerial spraying *Tuesday, October 8, 2019*, in the overnight hours. The company that will spray is Vector Disease Control International and this is their specialty.
Mosquitoes are most active after sundown. The aerial spray catches them in the air and is highly effective. The method and timing of aerial spraying protects beneficial insects because they are not active at night. We recommend if your pet’s water bowl is kept outside that the old water be removed and add new water. We also recommend that you sleep with your windows closed. These are not required actions only recommendations.
Your city is committed to the health and comfort of our citizens. We are working hard to control the presence of mosquitoes in order to prevent mosquito-borne diseases. Aerial spraying is just one aspect of our prevention program.
